Chauncy Students Visit Our Workshop for a Hands-On Learning Experience
On 21st January 2026, we were delighted to welcome a group of students from Chauncy School to our workshop for an exciting and educational visit. The day was designed to give them a real insight into practical skills used in the industry, guided by our experienced tutors and supported by several of our Level 2 students.
From the moment they arrived, the students showed great enthusiasm and curiosity. Our tutors introduced them to the workshop environment, explaining the importance of health and safety before moving on to the practical activities. This helped students understand how professionals work safely and efficiently in a real-world setting.
One of the main highlights of the visit was learning how to bend aluminium pipes. Students were shown different tools and techniques used to shape pipes accurately and safely. Our tutors demonstrated each step clearly, explaining why precision matters and how proper measurements are taken before bending. The students then had the opportunity to try it themselves, gaining hands-on experience and building confidence as they worked.
Students were also introduced to soldering, an essential skill within many technical industries. They were taught correct preparation methods, safe heat control, and how to produce high-quality joints. The group showed great interest in the process and, under supervision, successfully completed their own soldering tasks.
A special part of the day was the involvement of our Level 2 students, who helped mentor the visiting group. This peer support made the experience even more engaging, as the Chauncy students could ask questions and hear first-hand about studying and training in this field. Our students did a fantastic job sharing their knowledge, offering guidance, and encouraging everyone to get involved.
The visit was not only beneficial for the Chauncy students but also for our own learners and staff. It provided an opportunity to showcase the work we do and inspire young people to consider technical and vocational career paths. The energy and interest shown by the students was fantastic, and we hope the experience sparked new ideas for their future.
We would like to thank Chauncy School for visiting and hope to welcome them back again soon. Days like these highlight the importance of hands-on learning and collaboration between education providers. We look forward to continuing to support young people in developing practical skills and exploring career opportunities.
