SUPPORT TO HELP YOU GO FURTHER
CK Assessment and Training do not set minimum qualification levels for programmes for new entrants.
You may not have enjoyed school, or not got the qualification you wanted. You may have done very well in exams, but have no interest in further academic study. You may be stuck in a job where you feel under-appreciated, underpaid or you have no prospects for improvement.
We can help. Many people find that a career in plumbing or gas can be extremely rewarding and provide them with a fresh challenge and a new start.
Even if you are unsure whether you want to start career in our sector, you can achieve qualifications and develop practical skills which will help you throughout life.
Whilst you are undertaking your studies, or after you have completed your course, we are available to help you find work in the plumbing and gas industries.
Whilst we cannot guarantee success, we will work with you to put together your CV, showcasing what you can bring to a potential employer and providing advice on how to go about finding a job in the industry.
This support, and advice on career development, is also available to former students.
Many of our students who have not previously worked in the plumbing or gas industries benefit from periods of work experience.
This helps them to understand what it is really like working in the industry, what employers expect, what a typical day may be like and to decide whether this is the career for them. Work experience can also help to boost your CV.
Some of our students also undertake work trials instead of interviews, with employers who are actively looking to recruit new members of their team. Work trials can last from a few days to a few weeks, and often lead to a job on successful completion as they give you a chance to show an employer what you can do and how you can benefit their business.
Maths and English are very important in plumbing and gas, but we recognise that many of our students may not have done too well at school. We do not have minimum grades for accessing our entry level programmes.
For some higher level programmes, you will need a certain level of maths and English to join the course and progress in your career. We are able to provide very effective maths and English training to enable you to improve your skills and qualifications through functional skills, and, in some cases, GCSE retakes.
These are shorter courses, tailored to individual needs, and we are able to provide additional support to those who need it. Maths and English support is usually Government funded, via our funding partners, Hertford Regional College, but training takes place at CK.
If you are a former student or a qualified gas engineer and you want to take the next steps, improve your earning potential or broaden your scope, we are available to provide advice and guidance about options which may be open to you.
It doesn’t matter if you completed your qualifications many years ago, we have a range of qualifications and support available to you which will help you take the next steps in your career, building on the skills and experience which you already have.
Please contact us to find out more and to see how we may be able to support you.
